Hussein Haji Ahmad, University of Malaya
Hussein Haji Ahmad was permanent representative of Malaysia to UNESCO, Paris from 1997-2000. He has been appointed as Professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Malaya and has served in various capacities at the Ministry of Education. As a training expert and education consultant with vast national and international experience, he has provided valuable consultancy services for the government of Malaysia, UNESCO (Bangkok), World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, among others. His recent book ‘Mission of Public Education in Malaysia: The Challenge of Transformation’ (2012) provides a comprehensive examination of the various issues besetting education in Malaysia. Professor Hussein holds masters degrees in Sociology and Education, and a doctorate in Education from Stanford University.
